Salvia Black and Blue – a hummingbird magnet

Salvia Black and Blue

This lovely member of the sage family has beautiful cobalt blue flowers with black calyxes in long spikes above the plant. This plant attracts more hummingbirds than any other in my garden. I see hummingbirds on it every day in the summer.

This plant grows and flowers best in full sun but can tolerate some shade. It is marginally hardy, but will be perennial if placed in a sheltered location with good drainage. It is also deer and rabbit resistant – thank goodness!
